Perup: Nature’s Guesthouse
Surrounded by the 56,000 hectare Tone-Perup Nature Reserve, Perup: Nature’s Guesthouse is the best place in Western Australia’s south west to see native wildlife including several iconic and enigmatic mammals like numbats, tammar wallaby, ringtail and brushtail possums, quenda, woylies, phascogales and chuditch.
Our range of accommodation and facilities make Perup: Nature’s Guesthouse the perfect place for large groups and school camps. The Homestead and Bunkhouse sleeps up to 30 people in rammed earth, eco-friendly, fully self-contained buildings. With two other cottages nearby, the facility can accommodate groups of up to 50 people.
Our facility also includes the Per Christensen Bush Classroom – a large, open floor area equipped with chairs and tables to seat up to 50 people, whiteboards, overhead projector and screen. The open area is overlooked by a laboratory (with Bunsen burner outlets), running water and sinks that is perfect for conducting experiments. Displayed within the Classroom is the Perup Herbarium collection, a collection of fauna traces such as skulls and scats and other teaching aids.
The Homestead, Bunkhouse and Classroom are wheelchair accessible.
Visiting groups can choose to be fully self-directed, or ask us to design an educational package to meet your requirements. Educational offerings include guided walks (day and night) with commentary on the unique fauna species in the area (their biology, identification, diet, feeding signs, tracks, scats, skeleton collection, etc.) and flora species (biology, identification, herbarium specimens, etc.).
